A peer advocate is someone who has personal experience with mental health challenges, life crises, or difficult situations and uses that experience to support others going through similar circumstances. They provide a unique form of support because they can truly relate to what others are experiencing.

  • Help connect people to mental health resources and services

  • Accompany people to appointments or meetings if needed

  • Assist with navigating healthcare, education, or social service systems

  • Help develop coping strategies and self-advocacy skills
